One thing every Mom with young kids constantly struggles with is keeping children busy at home and reducing screen time. Being a Mom of a super active 4 years old, I can relate to it completely.

Engaging kids in activities that also help in their overall development is important these days. Especially in these testing times when children are home all the time. But how do you come up with such activities on a regular basis and then worry about supplies required, etc.?

If your answer is Google, you are right. But going to Google every time searching for a new activity and then read about it can be a task.

But recently I found a better solution/guide for this in the form of a wonderfully written book called ‘Child Activities’ by Simrit Bedi. It’s an ebook published by Blogchatter on their ebook carnival 2020.

Let’s dive into the book in detail.

About the Author

Simrit Bedi is a Chennai based Mom, Blogger, and an Influencer. It’s her debut book, comprising a collection of her experiences as a Teacher and of conducting activities with her own child as well as shared instances with friends and their children.

Book Cover and Title

The book cover completely justifies the content of the book. You can correctly guess from the cover itself what you are going to find inside the book, along with that it’s very attractive to the eyes. The title is short and sweet and conveys the essence of the book to the point.

Content

The author has provided many great ideas for keeping your kids busy at home. Whether you have an infant, toddler, or preschooler at home, you will find activities that suit your kids according to their age.

From crafts to fingerprinting to memory games to outdoor activities and more, you will find various activities that will keep your kids busy and help them in their overall development.

One thing I really liked is that the author has also provided benefits for each activity in the development of the children. It helps you know that you are not just engaging kids in random activities but also helping in their overall developments such as motor skills, memory power, physical development, etc. What could be better than learning that involves fun too?

The author has also pointed out the importance of quiet times for kids, and, yoga, etc. which we don’t focus on usually.

What did I miss?

Some more craft ideas with detailed steps would have been great, especially for people like me who don’t have a crafty bone in her body.  But overall I loved this book.

My Word

I would recommend all Moms with young kids to read this book and get some cool ideas to keep their kids busy at home. It will help you reduce the screen time and help them develop and learn in fun and creative ways, just as the tagline of the book says.
